Ibrahim Dabo joined Goal.com (formerly SoccerAge.com) in August 2000 and served as the company's official Correspondent for Soccer in The Gambia and for the rest of Africa. Thanks to his creativity, commitment and leadership, he started, and managed the company's African section over a 7-year period. In August 2005, he was appointed Goal.com's Africa Editor until he resigned in November 2007.

Goal.com Africa became a dynamic website for thousands of African football lovers, as Ibrahim's contributions, which included providing daily breaking news, exclusive interviews and features, live commentary, and player/coach/country profiles were all highly instrumental. He launched what became a popular weekly feature African Talking Point, and also managed his network of correspondents around the world.

Goal.com is a leading multi-ligual, global Internet soccer Media Company providing the most in-depth branded Worldwide Coverage of Tournaments, Championships and World Cups from Europe to Latin America.

THE POINT NEWSPAPER (THE GAMBIA)

In November 2002, Mr. Dabo acknowledged a special invitation from Mr. Pap Saine (Honorary Life President of the Gambia Sports Journalist Association) to work for The Point Newspaper where he is publisher. Mr Saine was once a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Technical and Media Committees.

MEDIA ORGANIZATIONS (THE GAMBIA)

He served as member of The Gambia Sports Journalist Association and an Associate Member of The Gambia Press Union during his stay in the West African state.

Ibrahim is a regular contributor to top soccer magazines Free Kick (Canada) and THE League (United Kingdom). He also contributes to The UB Post, the official University of Baltimore (Maryland) newspaper.

Ibrahim has met and interviewed many football personalities including Mohammed Kallon (former Inter Milan and Sierra Leone striker), Pap Saine (former member CAF Technical and Media Committee), Steve McClaren (former Middlesbrough and England national team manager), Gerard Houllier (former France national team manager; Liverpool and Lyon coach), Bill Beswick (England national team psychologist), Sigi Schmid (Columbus Crew coach), Steve Malone (former National Soccer Coaches Association of America President), Kristine Lilly (U.S. Womens National Team star & Captain), Danny Szetela (U.S. U-20 midfielder), and Kei Kamara (Sierra Leone's San Jose Earthquakes striker).

  • SPORTS PROMOTION

    Mr. Dabo is co-founder of the Mohamed Kallon Fan Club and served as Organizing Secretary. The club was launched in The Gambia in 2000 in honor of former Inter Milan striker Mohamed Kallon. A charity football match was played between The Gambia and Sierra Leone national teams at the Independence stadium in Banjul as part of activities commemorating the launching of the fan club.

    Mr. Dabo has promoted a lot of other African players such as Abdul T. Conteh (who played in the Major League Soccer, and also met with U.S. Congressmen in a move to create awareness about the decade-long civil war in his native country Sierra Leone), Paul Kpaka (Sierra Leone), Nwankwo Kanu (Nigeria), George Weah (Liberia), Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon), Ismaila Badjie (The Gambia) only to name a few.

    INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM ON SPORTS AND DEVELOPMENT (SWITZERLAND)

    Mr. Dabo is a team player of Swiss-based Organization, International Platform on Sports and Development (IPSD). "This online platform tries to reunite information, actors (sport federations, international organisations, NGOs, the private sector) and people who believe sport can be used as an instrument to promote social and human development worldwide." OTHER

OLD OTTERBEIN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (MARYLAND, USA)

Ibrahim is also very involved with church activities. Since moving from Africa to Baltimore, Maryland in 2004, he has been very active with Baltimore City's oldest church - Old Otterbein UMC.

He is currently a member of the churches' Board of Trustees, Communications Coordinator, Webmaster (www.oldotterbeinumc.org), Soloist (he is a former member of the top 100 Voices of Sierra Leone), Acolyte, Hospitality Greeter, and Sexton. He previously served as Chairman of the church's Finance Committee. In 2007, he represented the church at a special lucheon called up by Bishop Roland Shol of the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church in Washington, DC.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

In 2007, Mr. Dabo participated in the March of Dimes, a walk geared towards raising awareness for "improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality." For More on Ibrahim's Community Service involvement and photos Click Here.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES @ BALTIMORE CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE (MARYLAND):

At BCCC, Mr. Dabo was member of the following organizations: International Student Club (ISC), Student Government Board (SGB), Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) - (International Honor Society of the Two Year College), Kappa Beta Delta (KBD) - (International Honor Society for ACBSP accredited business programs), and National Dean's List (05/06) - (Honoring America's Outstanding College Students).
